Defense One – Vulnerabilities in certain brands of communications terminals can be used to access GPS data on forward-deployed troops.  LAS VEGAS — Some satellite communication terminals that the military uses in forward-deployed locations are highly vulnerable to a pervasive flaw, according to researchers with cybersecurity company IOActive.

AXIOS – Multiple deployed satellite communications (SATCOM) products have security flaws, according to IOActive researcher Ruben Santamarta, who will present research in the field Wednesday at the cybersecurity conference Black Hat.

Security firm IOActive is set to disclose multiple vulnerabilities in the embedded systems used for satellite communications and in-flight WiFi, revealing the larger challenge of supply chain risk. eWEEK – LAS VEGAS—Multiple systems on modern airliners are potentially at risk from a series of vulnerabilities that are being publicly discussed here at Black Hat USA and Defcon by researchers from IOActive.

FS Tech – Serious security vulnerabilities have been discovered in several leading mobile, desktop and web stock trading applications by IOActive. Alejandro Hernandez, senior security consultant at the cyber security firm, tested 16 desktop applications, 30 websites and 34 mobile applications, finding “major vulnerabilities” that can allow malicious actors to gain access to a user’s personal banking information, steal money and gain insights into net worth and investment strategies.

IOActive looked at both desktop and mobile stock trading applications and found security to be lacking.
