Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) | Western Regional (Stanford) 2023

The Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) provides an opportunity for student cybersecurity teams to discover, exploit, and provide mitigation recommendations for security vulnerabilities in an authentic but fictitious business infrastructure. This competition focuses on “offense for defense” – improving the security posture of the client by communicating risks in a manner that mimics a professional offensive engagement.

Notably, the Western Region has soundly dominated the Global CPTC competition since 2018, taking the 1st place spot every year but one.

The CPTC Western Regional will be held at the beautiful Stanford Science & Engineering Quad on November 11 & 12.

Stanford Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) – 2022

IOActive is proud to be a premier sponsor for the western regional competition this year. We will have team members present during both days of the competition and the closing ceremonies.

The Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) focuses on training and evaluating the activities teams are likely to perform during a real-world penetration testing engagement.

At its heart, CPTC is a bit different from several other collegiate Cybersecurity competitions. Instead of defending your network, searching for flags, or claiming ownership of systems, CPTC focuses on mimicking the activities performed during a real-world penetration testing engagement conducted by companies, professional services firms, and internal security departments around the world.
