After making some observations against automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) data requested via the freedom of information act (FOIA) while having reminiscent conversations about old hacker tales, it turned on the evil bit, leading to some interesting ideas. This talk will highlight this adventure of poking at systems using totally valid user-controlled data that causes unexpected behavior in the real world.
Ruben Santamarta, Principal Security Consultant at IOActive, will present “Arm IDA and Cross Check: Reversing the Boeing 787’s Core Network” at Black Hat USA 2019 on Wednesday, August 7th from 4:00pm-4:50pm. In 2008 the FAA issued several Special Conditions for The Boeing 787 Dreamliner. 10 years later, this talk will provide the first public analysis of the Boeing 787’s Core Network, revealing previously unknown vulnerabilities that would allow an attacker to compromise the security of the original design.
Esteban Martinez Fayo, Director of Database Security at IOActive, will present “LoRaWAN Auditing Framework” as part of the arsenal track at Black Hat USA 2019 on August 7th from 10am-11:20am. This project intends to provide a series of tools to craft, parse, send, analyze and crack a set of LoRaWAN packets in order to audit or pentest the security of a LoraWAN infrastructure.
