Seattle, WA—August 15, 2012. IOActive, a leading provider of application security, compliance, and smart grid security services, today announced that Joseph Tartaro, one of their Security Consultants, will present Occupy Burp Suite: Informing the 99% What the 1% are Taking Advantage Of at BSidesLV 2012. Since its birth in 2009, BSides events have become known as experiences that truly bring together information security members, from all spectrums of the community. Their unique, intimate atmospheres encourage collaboration among presenters and attendees, creating conversations that inspire the research and ideas that drive information security to exciting new heights and discoveries.
Joseph Tartaro will present a campaign that focuses on building demand, support, and an overall desire around the creation of Burp extensions in the hope of bringing extensibility to the forefront of web application testing. Tartaro will outline the current demand, capabilities, and limitations while presenting up to a dozen extensions that presently utilize all currently-accessible functionality within the extensibility suite. Along with the showcasing of these extensions, a campaign (a call to arms, if you will) will be introduced to organize and develop an extension community that documents tool primers, lessons learned, and tips/tricks, along with hosting extensions and tools catered to Burp.
